04/12/2009 Wind Prospect’s Advisory Team has continued its foray into the growing African wind energy market with two new contract wins.
The team, which delivers advice and consultancy services to developers, recently secured the contract to oversee the installation of a met mast in the Western Cape of South Africa. The team will carry out wind resource assessments and yield analysis for the client who currently remains undisclosed.
The Team has also been awarded a contract to provide technical consultancy services, overseeing a wind energy project in the African country of Kenya. Again, the client has not yet been named due to commercial confidentiality, but work is already well underway.
Africa remains a key area of development as Dave Groves, Wind Prospect’s Head of Advisory Services explains:
“Kenya for example, has some of the best wind resource on the continent and is therefore attracting a great deal of attention from developers.
“Power outages are causing major problems across Kenya and right now the country is importing fossil fuels to try and compensate. This has brought about a real drive on the part of the country and the developers to make things happen and is creating a very interesting scenario.”
Wind Prospect’s African presence continues to expand, with further contract wins expected in the coming months. |
